NAILS

DISEASES AND TREATMENTS

how to cut your nails

Culturally, we were taught to cut our nails the wrong way: It ends up being a frequent question in the office, and above all the cause of multiple nail problems, such as ingrown toenails. Did you know that?

So how should we cut nails?

Hand nails:

With fingernails, it's not that much of a problem. But if they are going to be long, the possibility of them breaking will depend on the format used. It has slightly safer formats such as squoval (mixture of the English terms "square" + "oval"), almond and rounded.

Toenails:

In the case of toenails, we should always leave them with a straight finish and we should not remove the skin from the corners. It's much better to cut after a shower, when your nails are softer.

Additionally, I leave a video about the care of the nails of the American society, the American Academy of Dermatology  (Portuguese).
